Sabbath: The 2017 Dorothy Saxe Invitational

Exhibition on view at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco
Nov 12, 2017–Feb 25, 2018

This was the eleventh in a series of exhibitions inviting artists to respond to a theme in the form of a three-dimensional artwork. In 2017, the theme was the Sabbath, and fifty-seven artists participated in the exhibition. The exhibition identity refers to the duration of Shabbat, which begins shortly before sundown on Friday and ends with the appearance of three stars in the Saturday night sky.
